He welcomed the extension of the EUFOR ALTHEA mission approved on 2 November and reiterated the position outlined in his report to the UN Security Council that EUFOR ALTEA remains a vital factor in ensuring security and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina , BTA reported.

On its Twitter account, the High Representative's office said that Schmidt now expects all parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina to commit quickly to the formation of bodies that will address key challenges, including eliminating discrimination in the electoral system in line with the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as improving the integrity of the electoral process.

"The election campaign is over.

The time for political discord, which we unfortunately witnessed even before the UN Security Council session, is over.

Now is the time to do the real work expected of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina – to fulfill the conditions for EU integration, to promote economic development, to moderate inflation and to stop the outflow of young people,” the high representative wrote.
