Maharashtra Congress working president Mohammad Arif Naseem Khan has written to President Draupadi Murmu demanding that the country's highest civilian award Bharat Ratna should be given posthumously to Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The late leader of the Samajwadi Party understood the pain of the deprived sections and fought for them.

The entire country mourned the death of the Samajwadi Party leader.

I request that he should be honored with Bharat Ratna in respect of the sentiments of crores of people.

Mohammad Arif Naseem Khan has also written a letter to the Prime Minister demanding Bharat Ratna for Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Ballia Virendra Singh had last month sanctioned Rs 25 lakh from his MP fund for the construction of an auditorium in memory of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh.

The proposed auditorium is to be constructed in the Ballia district court premises and will be named "Dhartiputra Mulayam Singh Yadav Samvad Bhawan".

Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Mulayam Singh Yadav also served as the Union Defense Minister.

His fans fondly called him "Netaji".
