She emphasized that the citizens of her country want to be part of the European family and have the chance to live in freedom and peace.

According to her, today Romania and Moldova together define their destiny as part of the free world.

For me, in these times, it is a huge responsibility, I will do everything I can for the Republic of Moldova to be on the good side of history, for people to live in peace, free and dignified in their own home.

It is an honor for me to be here today and to be able to thank Romania, said Sandu, who participated in the conference "Women parliamentarians in Romania and the promotion of gender equality as a national commitment", organized in the Parliament in Bucharest.

According to her, the country has spent three decades in the "gray zone" and citizens want a normal life like in European countries.

Rumen Radev: Bulgaria is ready to cooperate with Moldova for its European integration

"We strongly desire to be part of the big European family (...) Moldova is already contributing to a stronger and more united Europe by effectively participating in the management of the consequences of the war.

Today, our citizens live with anxiety about the future of their children.

Russia started a war because it believed that everything was allowed to it.

If the Ukrainians had not faced the Russian Federation with their courage and patriotism, where would Russia have gone?

To the Dniester, to the Prut?

This shows that we are all in danger because for Russia there are no rules, no borders, no country can stand alone against such aggression.

Ukraine would not have succeeded alone, Russia thought it would be alone, but the free world came to Ukraine's aid,'' the Moldovan president pointed out.

She added that Moldova joined the efforts of the free world, faced challenges for which it was not prepared, but nevertheless stood in solidarity with the efforts for peace.

Although we have the lowest incomes in Europe, our people have opened their doors and hearts when needed.

In these tragic times, we rely on the free world so that in the future the free world can rely on the Republic of Moldova as a guarantor of peace and security, she pointed out.

Sandu highlighted the role that Moldovan women play in politics, adding that Moldovan society supports their participation in political life because it has European values, BTA reported.

Macron said that Moldova would hardly have a chance to enter the EU if it were not for the war in Ukraine

"Two years ago, some men in the political space in our country said that a woman cannot win the presidential elections and that, in general, women have nothing to look for in politics.

But the majority of our citizens put human value first, not prejudice (...) Although it is a challenge to succeed in a field traditionally dominated by men, more and more women in Moldova are getting involved and are respected for their abilities' ', she pointed out, pointing out that women lead important institutions in Moldova such as the government, the Ministry of the Interior, the anti-corruption prosecutor's office, the Constitutional Court.

She noted that 40% of parliamentarians in Chisinau are women, and about 200 town halls are headed by women, which represents 22% of their total number.

Their participation will continue to increase because active women in the social and political life of Moldova have seen that it can, the Moldovan president emphasized.
