[Compiled by Chen Chengliang/Comprehensive Report] Russia launched a routine autumn conscription on the 1st in accordance with the presidential decree.

Because the Russian army is in a tight situation in Ukraine and the source of troops is stretched, this move has attracted particular attention.

The Russian military stressed that this routine recruitment has nothing to do with the war against Ukraine, but the US think tank pointed out that this may be a deception by the Russian authorities to prevent the people from evading the recruitment.

At present, the Russian army adopts a recruitment and parallel system. The decree signed by President Vladimir Putin can conscript men aged 18 to 27 in the country for 12 months. The number of enlisted in this wave is about 120,000.

The Russian Federation's General Staff said recruits who were drafted in the fall would not be sent to the Ukrainian front or other conflict hotspots.

However, the Washington think tank "Institute for War" (ISW) released its latest war situation assessment report on October 31, pointing out that the Russian military is likely to try to deceive the Russian people into believing that recruits will not be sent to Ukraine to fight in the fall, thus preventing them from evading conscription.

In fact, the outside world found that many of the Russian troops captured by the Ukrainian army in the early days of the Russian-Ukrainian war were recruits, and some of them were trained for one month or even five days before being put on the battlefield.

Putin issued "Four No Announcements" in early October, announcing that he would not regret launching military operations, not to increase bombing, not to destroy Ukraine, and not to mobilize troops.

However, many military relatives have accused the local government or the military of breaking their pre-mobilization promises and sending untrained mobilized soldiers to the front line to fight.
