Drones supplied to Ukraine by Baikar played an important role in defending Ukraine against Russian attacks in the first few weeks of the war.

The Bayraktar TB2 drone has become so popular with the public that Ukrainians have written a song about it, and some allied countries have launched unprecedented joint funding campaigns to buy more of the drones.

According to an agreement between Ankara and Kyiv, signed just before Russia's invasion on February 24, Baikar will build its second production plant in Ukraine.

The company's CEO, Haluk Bayraktar, said the plans are being implemented despite some obstacles created by the Russian invasion.

"At the moment we have an architectural design. The detailed design phase is complete. And we will actually continue with the construction, within two years we would like to complete it," he noted.

Ukraine is a significant part of Baykar's supply chain, particularly with the new Akinci heavy-lift drone and Kizilelma, or Golden Apple, unmanned fighter jet currently under development.

Both aircraft use Ukrainian engines of "Motor Sich" and "Ivchenko-Progress".
