The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, will himself choose a convenient time when it will be necessary to start negotiations with Russia on behalf of the Ukrainian people.

This was stated by the strategic communications coordinator of the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby, during a briefing for journalists in Washington,

reports .

He noted that only the Ukrainian authorities should choose the time, if it comes, for negotiations with Moscow, and the dialogue between the countries should begin on Kyiv's terms.

"Zelensky should define what success should look like, he should define what victory should look like, and he should define when it's time to negotiate," Kirby noted.

Kirby also noted that the Russian dictator Putin is demonstrating a position contrary to his own statements, as he is not yet interested in a real dialogue, but is only intensifying the escalation of the war against Ukraine.

Kirby added that the US position regarding the negotiations remains unchanged: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.

It will be recalled that it was previously reported that John Kirby responded to Russia's threats to shoot down
