The Sofia Municipal Council proposes 10 measures to increase safety on Sofia's streets.

One of the measures envisaged by the City Council is the construction of islands around the footpaths so that people can safely cross them.

In 2 weeks: 100 cars detected driving at over 100 km/h on Cherni Vrah Blvd.

One of the islands will be in front of the capital school "Miladinovi Brothers" in the center, where it is also one of the most dangerous pedestrian paths.

"It is planned that the traffic will be organized in such a way that by narrowing the roadway and limiting traffic on the tram lines, drivers will have the opportunity to see pedestrians, stop and let them pass. Today, the report will be voted on, which aims to improve the overall organization of traffic," said municipal councilor Mihail Stavrev.

The islands are similar to those placed on Cherni Vrah Boulevard.

"They are placed on wide streets, where there is no consideration from the drivers or on a rail tramway. We have experimentally installed hemispheres in front of the pedestrian paths on "Yanko Sakazov" Blvd. to reduce the speed of traffic and allow the tram to move. Regarding the security of the stops Curbs are planned, which will return the cars to the roadway without turning them over," added municipal councilor Proshko Proshkov.
