In just two weeks, the speed radar board on Cherni Vrah Blvd. in Sofia detected more than 100 cars that were traveling more than 100 km/h over the limit.

The sign was placed near the scene of the brutal accident, where Georgi Semerdzhiev ran over two pedestrians.

The traffic data of "Cherni Vrah" was announced by the chairman of the Metropolitan Municipal Council, Georgi Georgiev.

He presented a package of measures to improve street safety.

The municipality wants powers to be able to issue fines for three main offenses - speeding, running red lights and driving on restricted streets.

According to Georgiev, the traffic police should increase the number of patrol cars that monitor traffic, because there are only 15 for the entire city.

"We realize that they have limited resources to be able to put patrols at these intersections and at these time slots when it is most needed. Alas, Black Peak is seeing the appalling practice continue, after 10.00 p.m. hours, to drive at 110, 130, we even have a few at 150 km/h. This is madness," commented Georgiev.
