Govardhan Puja is being celebrated today.

It is also known as Annakoot festival.

According to the Hindu calendar, this festival is celebrated on the Pratipada date of Kartik month.

Govardhan Puja is especially celebrated in Vrindavan, Mathura, Gokul, Nandgaon, Barsana.

In this festival, mainly Govardhan mountain, Lord Krishna and livestock are worshiped.

Along with this, there is also a law to worship Indra Dev, Agni Dev and Varun Dev.

On this day, different types of food are offered to God in worship, hence it is called Annakoot.

Govardhan Puja 2022 Shubh Muhurat

According to the Hindu calendar, Govardhan Puja is being celebrated on 26 October i.e. today.

The date of worship has started from 4:18 pm on the evening of 25 October.

Which will end on October 26 at 2:42 pm.

The auspicious time for Govardhan Puja is from 06:36 am to 8.55 am.

In such a situation, it will be auspicious to do Govardhan Puja during this time period. 

Worship material

Govardhan Puja Samagri List

Roli, sandalwood, flowers, incense, lamp, fruits, sweets, intact, cow dung have to be included as worship material to offer to God on this day.

Apart from this, Bhog, Panchamrit, honey, curd, sugar etc. are made by mixing it to apply to God.

Along with this, 56 types of Bhog are offered to the Lord on this day. 

Worship method

Govardhan Puja Vidhi

According to religious belief, Govardhan Parvat is made of cow dung on Govardhan Puja.

After that it is decorated with flowers.

In the auspicious time, all the Ishta Devs including Lord Krishna are worshipped.

During the worship, incense, lamp, fruits, flowers, akshat, sandalwood and naivedya are offered to the Lord.

On this day there is also a law to worship livestock like cows and bulls.

A lamp is placed in place of the navel by making Lord Govardhan figure.

In which milk, curd, Gangajal, honey, Batase etc. are put.

After worship, it is distributed as Prasad.

After the worship, the Govardhan Parvat is circumambulated 7 times.

During this circumambulation is done while sowing barley with water in the lota.
