The participants of the Congress of Azerbaijan Writers' Union appealed to President Ilham Aliyev.

APA informs that the application letter was read by poet, playwright Ilgar Fahmi.

In the letter, it was noted that the state policy is supported by the literary environment:

"We are grateful to you for the great victory and historical success, and at the same time, for the care you show to Azerbaijani literature.

We wholeheartedly support your domestic and foreign policy as literary figures and wish you success in your career path."

Kazakh poet and writer Oljas Suleymenov also sent a congratulatory letter to the congress.

People's writer Anar read the letter.

People's poet Sabir Rustamkhanli said that the inability of those in charge of ideological affairs to break away from Soviet thinking sometimes hinders the correct establishment of the policy regarding the south.

The folk poet drew attention to the fact that our young people from the South are not educated at the expense of the state: "For years, our official bodies have missed the training of personnel for South Azerbaijan. But people from different places have studied. Because the inability of those who lead our ideological work to break away from the Soviet thinking has sometimes prevented the correct establishment of our policy regarding the South."

Sabir Rustamkhanli noted that we have cultural problems: "Actually, there are many problems to mention. For example, cultural centers and libraries in villages have been reduced by half. Book promotion on television has been forgotten. In most villages, the population gathers in one place only in mosques, there is no other place."

The national poet called the mentioned issue a serious problem.

"This is an extremely serious problem. Our readership is rapidly decreasing, even being taken away from us. All classes in English and Russian-speaking schools are conducted in those languages. The question arises, how will the relationship between those young people and our writers be established? Will those young people be able to find out about our literature? No. I believe that a new museum complex that meets modern requirements should be built in Azerbaijan, and the Institute of Manuscripts should be preserved in more reliable conditions.
