Members of the elite commando corps of the Afghan National Army, who remained in the country after the withdrawal of the United States and its allies and the Taliban's rise to power, say that they have been contacted with offers to join the Russian Armed Forces to fight against Ukraine.

FP writes about it.

Between 20,000 and 30,000 Afghan volunteer commandos remained in the country after the withdrawal of US troops and the rise of the Taliban.

Thousands of soldiers fled to neighboring regions as the Taliban hunted down and killed supporters of the ousted government.

Many commandos who remain in Afghanistan go into hiding to avoid capture and execution.

The United States has spent nearly $90 billion building up the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.

Although the force was generally incompetent and handed the country over to the Taliban in a matter of weeks, the commandos were always respected because they were trained by US Navy SEALs and the British Special Air Service.

Now unemployed and hopeless, many commandos are still waiting to be resettled in the United States or Britain, making them easy targets for recruiters.

A former high-ranking employee of Afghanistan's security service, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the recruitment of Afghans is done by PMK "Wagner".

Some former commandos report being approached via WhatsApp and Signal with offers to join Russia's so-called "Foreign Legion".

News of the recruitment efforts raised concerns in Afghanistan's former military and security circles, members of which said up to 10,000 former commandos could be swayed by Russian offers.

According to another military source: "They have no country, no job, no future. They have nothing to lose. They are waiting for work for $3-4 a day in Pakistan or Iran or $10 a day in Turkey, and if "Wagner "if any other intelligence agencies come and offer $1,000 to become a militant again, they won't refuse."

The 35-year-old former special forces captain, who is hiding in Afghanistan, said he helped several former colleagues contact a recruiting office in Tehran.

According to him, recruits were already sent from Afghanistan to Iran, and then to Russia.

What happened next is unclear: "When they accept Russia's offer, the paratroopers' phones go off. They operate very secretly," said the former captain.

Some former commandos do not accept the Russian offer, because they consider Russia an enemy because of the Soviet Union's invasion of Afghanistan and Russia's support for the Taliban.

We will remind that earlier in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Armed Forces already eliminated groups of Syrians who fought on the side of Russia.

Later, they ran out and disappeared from the lists from the front.

Also, the "Wagner" PEC began to massively take prisoners with infectious diseases - HIV and hepatitis - into its ranks.

They are marked with special bracelets.
