Military expert

Oleg Zhdanov

said that Putin is not punishing Russian generals for failure to mobilize, instead purges are being conducted for failure to conduct hostilities.

He told about this in an interview

with

TSN.ua.

"No one has been punished for the mobilization yet. On the contrary, there is information that Putin said that he would treat the failures of the mobilization loyally, with understanding, when it even takes on such a tragic character," he noted.

According to Zhdanov, Russia is punishing those generals who suffered heavy losses.

"But the purge is going on and I am sure that this purge is being carried out by the FSB and the Investigative Committee of Russia, and this purge of the ranks is the punishment of those generals who suffered heavy losses that led to the incapacitation of the units. Mainly for the failure of conducting hostilities. For this now these generals are being removed," the expert says.

He also suggested that these generals may revolt in the near future.

"And I am sure that in the near future we will hear some high-profile criminal case there regarding the mutiny of the generals who failed this "special military operation". And I do not rule out that Surovikin can lead this mutiny, if it is necessary to chop off someone's head in order to to report why the operation failed," Zhdanov said.

What is known about Surovikin

In early October, Russian President Vladimir Putin appointed General Serhiy

Surovikin as the new commander of the Joint Group of Forces

 in the war in Ukraine.

It is generally known that from March to December 2017, Surovikin commanded a group of Russian troops in Syria.

Putin appreciated his merits, appointing Surovikin the commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces and awarding him the title of Hero of the Russian Federation in the same year.

From January to April 2019, Surovikin commanded the Russian group of Russian troops in Syria for the second time.

Surovikin is distinguished by

an uncompromising and brutal approach to waging war

.

And precisely because of this, according to some reports, he is called "General Armageddon" in the army.

Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense and intelligence, believes that Surovikin

wants to demonstrate his effectiveness in his new position by launching missile strikes on Ukrainian cities.

Surovikin admitted that the

situation near Kherson is "difficult"

.

He also accused Ukraine of "preparing a massive missile attack on the Kakhovskaya HPP dam and launching a massive missile-artillery attack.
