[Reporter Su Yongyao/Taipei Report] The Hudson Institute, a Washington-based think tank, established the China Center, with former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo serving as the chairman of the advisory committee.

Pompeo, through a series of short films "Talking directly to the Chinese people about US-China relations," released the third episode today, bluntly saying that the Chinese Communist Party is the ultimate reason for the deterioration of US-China relations.

Pompeo also believes that the Chinese people now live under the most intense surveillance and censorship in the world, at the mercy of a rogue government.

Pompeo said his 1,000 days as secretary of state at the State Department had awakened the free world to face China's challenge.

This is the CCP’s threat to the free world and its repression of the Chinese people.

Frankly, what surprised him was why we didn't start getting this right until the Trump administration in the United States.

Pompeo believes that the reason it took us so long to realize this is because Americans are an optimistic people.

Maybe we are too naive, the United States wants a friendship with China, and our relationship is much older than the CCP.

Long before former US President Richard Nixon visited Beijing in 1972, former President Lincoln sent an American envoy named Park Anson to China in 1861.

Park Anson is deeply loved by Chinese and American people on both sides of the Pacific.

"We've had a lot of tweets about little Rocket Man, big nuke buttons, fire and fury under Trump, but we do it because we want to deter aggression," Pompeo said.

We know that regimes like the Chinese Communist Party are aggressors.

The CCP steals American jobs and hundreds of billions of dollars every year, it spreads propaganda and lies to demonize America, and it spies on us through TikTok, Huawei, and other technologies.

It carried out the largest peacetime military buildup in history, and it tried to cover up the truth about the new crown epidemic.

The United States is clearly not the aggressor.

The CCP also bullies Australians, Canadians, Czechs, Indians, Japanese, Taiwanese, and anyone who posts pictures of Winnie the Pooh on WeChat.

In sum, Pompeo believes that the Chinese people live under the most intense surveillance and censorship in the world, at the mercy of a rogue government.

So where is the problem?

His answer is these words: Chinese Communist Party.
