Military expert Petro Chernyk, how combat operations will change with the arrival of winter.

He said this in an interview with TSN.ua.

Two types of combat operations in winter

According to him, there are two types of combat operations possible in winter: 1) when it is cold, the temperature is down to -20 degrees and below, 2) a mild winter.

"The first type: if the ground freezes, the temperature is down to -20 degrees and below. Then heavy equipment can move. Then everything will be as it is now: heavy battles along the entire demarcation line and with the use of all possible forces and means. Let me remind you that the tank - this is 39-43 tons, heavy artillery installation 2C19 "Msta-S" - 42 tons, BMP, armored personnel carrier - within 12 tons, armored cars - 6-8 tons. If the ground freezes, then both we and they will

be able to maneuver

", - says the expert.

If there will be a mild winter, as it was at the end of February, then heavy equipment will be able to move

exclusively on roads

.

"The Russians learned at the beginning of the war that we know how to fight in this way. We learned to destroy their huge columns of equipment," Chernyk says.

Artillery duels

According to the expert, everything will turn into long-term artillery duels at the front.

"And the more new barreled artillery we get from our Western partners, the better. Everything is not bad in this direction, the latest package from the USA is quite interesting," he says.

The expert drew attention to the RAW long-range mining projectile.

This projectile has up to 9 mines of electromagnetic detonation just against armored vehicles.

According to Chernyk, the USA provided 5,000 units of such projectiles, so that's a total of 45,000 mines.

"What this shows is that there is an understanding that this is the way to block the potential paths that Russian technology should and will take. So, our partners are aware of our needs and

are working to stay ahead

," the expert reassures.

Don't set your expectations too high

Petro Chernyk called on Ukrainians not to raise the bar of expectations too high

"Victory will inevitably be ours, but we are raising the bar of expectations too much. This must be abandoned. The higher the bar of expectations, the stronger the disappointment. And disappointment is the soil where the enemy can work and drive discord between us. There is nothing worse if Ukrainians will quarrel among themselves. Let's learn history: first there were civil strife, and then the enemy took us as "warm". We have no right to make this mistake," he concluded.

Putin hopes for "General Zima"

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, expressed the opinion that Kremlin leader Putin is waiting for winter to put more pressure on the West, blackmailing him with gas.

Vadym Denysenko, advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs and executive director of the Future Institute, shares the same opinion.

According to him, Putin is confused and does not understand what to do next.

The dictator's only bet is on the cold winter and the Europeans who seem to run to him to ask for gas.

The president of The Jamestown Foundation, Glen Howard, predicted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would liberate Kherson and Nova Kakhovka before the war, and then hostilities would slow down because winter would come.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov explained which military will be worse off from the cooling and changing weather - Ukrainian or Russian.
