Hearing in Gyanvapi dispute today in Allahabad HC

Allahabad:

In the Allahabad High Court, the Anjuman Arrangements Masajid Committee has reached the Allahabad High Court against the decision given by the Varanasi District Court on September 12 in the matter of whether the petition of Gyanvapi Masjid and Shringar Gauri Temple is maintainable.

Hearing was held in the Allahabad High Court on the petition filed by the District Judge of Varanasi against the rejection of the objection of the Muslim side.

Now the High Court will hear the matter from 2:00 pm on October 19.

During the hearing, the Masjid Committee demanded a few days' time from the court to present its side.

The bench hearing the matter has summoned all the records related to this case from the court of the District Judge of Varanasi.

A certified copy of the photocopy of all the records will be filed in the court on October 19 before 2:00 PM.

On behalf of the Hindu side, Supreme Court lawyer Vishnu Jain appeared in the court in this matter.

An appeal was made on behalf of the Hindu side to dismiss this petition of the Masjid Committee.

The Masjid Committee has challenged the decision of the District Judge of Varanasi on 12 September.

It has once again been said on behalf of the Masjid Committee that the matter cannot be heard under the Places of Worship Act of 1991.

Five women, including Rakhi Singh, had filed a petition in the Varanasi district court last year seeking permission to regularly offer prayers to Shringar Gauri at the Gyanvapi complex.

The district judge of Varanasi was hearing the matter on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The Masjid Committee filed an application in the District Judge's court and appealed to dismiss the case.

It was said that under the 1991 Act, this case cannot be heard.

The District Judge of Varanasi, while giving his verdict on 12 September, rejected the objection of the Muslim side.

The district judge's court had allowed Rakhi Singh's case to continue.
