On Friday, October 14, at the "Central Asia - Russia" summit, which is taking place in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, personally appealed to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, with a request not to conduct a policy towards the countries of Central Asia as if it were the former Soviet Union.

This was reported by Inform Buro.

In particular, Rahmon expressed his dissatisfaction with the insufficiently respectful attitude of the Russian authorities towards Tajikistan.

"Why are we begging for some unfortunate forum in Tajikistan? I gave instructions to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, I even spoke with you, to attend at least at the ministerial level.

No, at the level of deputy ministers.

Tajikistan has earned it, a strategic partner... We want to be respected.

Where did we go wrong?

Did you say hello somewhere wrong?" Emomali Rahmon addressed the head of the Russian Federation.

The President of Tajikistan compared the current attitude of the Kremlin to the states of Central Asia with the situation in the Soviet Union and asked Putin not to repeat the mistakes of the communist regime.

"We witnessed with you the collapse of the Soviet Union. As now, we witnessed the fact that there was no attention paid to small republics, small peoples. Traditions and customs were not taken into account. Development support was not provided..." Emomali Rahmon emphasized.

He also emphasized that more than two million citizens of Tajikistan came to the Russian Federation not only to earn money, but also to go to other countries through the territory of Russia.

At the same time, the Tajik leader predicted a sharp decrease of these transiters due to the sanctions applied by the West, which limit, in particular, air connections with the Russian Federation.

It will be recalled that Turkish President Recep Erdogan made Putin wait for an official meeting.
