Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that a direct confrontation between NATO and the Russian army is extremely dangerous, as it will turn into a global catastrophe.

He announced this at a press conference on October 14.

This is the answer the Russian dictator gave to the question about the possibility of the introduction of Alliance troops into Ukraine in the event of a "deterioration of Kyiv's situation."

"In any case, the introduction of some troops into a direct confrontation with the Russian army is a very dangerous step that can lead to a global catastrophe. I hope that those who speak about it will have enough sense to not take such dangerous steps to do," Putin said.

He also commented on the statement of the Secretary General of the Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, that "Russia's victory will be NATO's defeat."

"Ukraine's defeat is a matter of concepts, legal technique, everyone can understand it differently," said the President of the Russian Federation.

NATO and Russia

We will remind, the day before, CNN, citing a high-ranking official from NATO, reported that a nuclear attack by the Russian Federation would "almost certainly" cause a "physical response" from the allies and, possibly, from the Alliance.

NATO Secretary General himself neither confirmed nor denied such information.

At the same time, Stoltenberg said that even Russia's use of low-power nuclear weapons would fundamentally change the nature of the war in Ukraine.

This, of course, will have consequences, the Secretary General of the Alliance assured.

In addition, Stoltenberg stated that Putin's victory in the war against Ukraine would mean a defeat for NATO.

He also announced nuclear exercises to be conducted by the Alliance.
