"We think the sanctions are destroying us," the government wrote on Facebook, posting the questions.

The sanctions were approved by all member countries, including Hungary, adds BTA.

One of the seven questions Hungarians will have to answer is "Do you approve of sanctions that lead to higher food prices", increasing the "risk of famine in developing countries" and "migratory pressure" on Europe's borders .

Another of the questions asks for the opinion of citizens regarding the measures directed against the Russian energy sector, regardless of whether they have been adopted or only discussed.

Brussels' sanctions strategy has led to record bills, "putting at risk the ability of households to heat themselves and the viability of the European economy," the Hungarian government wrote.

Hungary risks running out of European funding

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Hungary, which is heavily dependent on Russian fuel imports, has tried to maintain good relations with the Kremlin in order to continue receiving gas and oil.

Yesterday, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó visited Moscow to participate in the "Russian Energy Week" forum, unlike his European partners.

Today, in an interview with "Košut" radio, Prime Minister Orbán once again criticized the European sanctions, which, according to him, were decided by "one European elite, in an undemocratic way".

Orbán explained his decision to hold consultations with his desire to reach a national consensus.

Why exactly did Hungary so strongly embrace the "fraternal" Russian propaganda?

Citizens' responses are expected by December 9.

Budapest has repeatedly used this method, which has no legal consequences.

The survey with the questions is sent by mail.
