Varanasi Court will pronounce its verdict today on carbon dating of the alleged Shivling found in the Gyanvapi Masjid premises.

Four of the 5 parties had demanded a scientific investigation by the ASI of the alleged Shivling.

The hearing in this case was completed on 11th.

The Masjid side argued that there is a fountain and not a Shivling.

1 in 5 Hindu parties opposed the scientific examination of the alleged Shivling.

The court can deliver its verdict after two o'clock today.

Five women of Banaras together had filed a petition in the Varanasi court seeking permission to worship Shringar Gauri throughout the year.

26 April 2022: The court appointed Ajay Mishra as the court commissioner and ordered a survey of the Shringar Gauri temple in the courtyard of Gyanvapi mosque. 

6 May 2022: Court commissioner starts the survey work of Gyanvapi Masjid. 

7 May 2022: The mosque side filed a petition in the court and raised questions on the impartiality of the court commissioner Ajay Mishra. 

12 May 2022: Court refuses to remove Ajay Mishra.

Along with this, two more court commissioners were appointed for the survey. 

May 14, 2022: The survey commission appointed by the court begins the survey of the Gyanvapi mosque. 

May 16, 2022: The Hindu side said that there would be a Shivling in the Vaju Khana of the Gyanvapi Masjid.

The Muslim side called it a fountain. 

May 16, 2022: Court orders sealing of Vazukhana. 

19 May 2022: Court commission submitted survey report of Gyanvapi mosque to the court. 

May 19, 2022: Mosque Committee asks Supreme Court to stay the hearing on the petition to worship in Shringar Gauri temple.

The Supreme Court ordered the Varanasi court to defer hearing on this petition till May 20. 

May 20, 2022: The Supreme Court asks the Varanasi district judge whether the petition for worshiping in the Shringar Gauri temple is worthy of hearing.

Ordered to make this decision.

The Supreme Court ordered the Varanasi Court to complete the hearing in 8 weeks. 

August 24, 2022: The hearing of the case is completed in Varanasi Court. 

12 September 2022: Varanasi court dismisses the petition of the Muslim side.

The court said that the petition for worshiping in the Shringar Gauri temple present in the Gyanvapi complex is maintainable. 

22 September 2022: Four of the five Hindu parties demanded a scientific investigation by the ASI of the alleged Shivling found in the Vazukhana.



October 14, 2022: Varanasi court to give verdict on carbon dating after 2 pm.
