The government of Flanders gave the building to the use of democratic forces completely free of charge.

The first event took place today - a meeting with the diaspora, the Tsikhanovskaya Office reported.

Opening the office, Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya thanked the Prime Minister of Flanders and noted: "I hope that this mission will be a place where we can build connections, create alliances and have conversations that are important for our future.

I hope it will be a place where everyone feels welcome.

Democratic Belarus needs every voice to be heard."

Uladzimir Ostapenko, the deputy representative for international relations of the United Transitional Cabinet and one of the heads of the NAU, was appointed to manage Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya's office.

The mission of democratic Belarus will provide space for Belarusian organizations and representatives of the diaspora, as well as perform the role of the embassy of free Belarus.

Today Svetlana Tsikhanovskaya held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium about the possible legal and diplomatic status of the mission.

For now, the premises are closed for visits, but the opening will take place in the next month or two.
