President Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported that the

Bakhmut direction

is still

one of the toughest on the front.

He said this in his traditional video address in the evening, October 13.

The President honored the soldiers of the 5th separate assault regiment of the Ground Forces, the 1st separate battalion of the marines and the battalion of the 4th brigade of the National Guard for their skillful and heroic actions during the defense in the Bakhmut direction.

"I thank each and every one who defends our positions there and inflicts tangible blows on the occupiers," he said.

Zelenskyi said that Russia is currently sending

thousands of mobilized

soldiers to the front without significant military training.

"But their command doesn't need it at all. They expect that the mobilized Russians will be able to survive the war for at least a few weeks, then they will die, and then new ones will be sent to the front. But during this time, such use by Russian generals of their people as

"cannon fodder"

gives will be able to create additional pressure on our defenders," says Zelenskyi.

The head of state admitted that this is

"perceptible pressure".

"And I am grateful to all our soldiers who

endure

it . I am also grateful to our partners who understand that in such conditions we need an increase in defense assistance. I thank everyone who fights, works and helps to protect Ukraine," he concluded.

What is known about the battles in the Bakhmut direction

On October 8, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to hold positions in Donbas, in particular in the Bakhmut direction -

where the situation is very difficult and where fierce battles are taking place.

The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain reported that Russian troops advanced 2 km in the direction of the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region over the past week.

Bakhmut is trying to storm, in particular, the units of the private military company "Wagner", which includes convicts recently recruited from Russian prisons.

Military expert Serhiy Grabskyi said that

extremely heavy battles are ongoing in the

Bakhmut direction  .

There, the enemy no longer acts with the methods of a concentrated attack, he acts in separate units, using all his artillery.

Ukrainian journalist Denys Kazansky showed how the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk region lives, which is almost a front line.
