The director of the police department in the Albanian city of Vlora, Gentian Berberi, informed that smuggled drugs worth 70,000 euros were confiscated, for which two people were detained - a husband and wife aged 64 and 62, both residents of the southern Albanian coastal city of Saranda, Albanian Radio reported.

Berberi reported that the operation began in a district of Saranda, where during an inspection of the pharmacy of the spouses K.A. and A.A., the police found 1287 medications of different types in various quantities, which were not accompanied by the relevant documentation and were smuggled.

The operation continued with a search of the apartment of the two citizens, who tried to direct the police services to another apartment in order to avoid control in their apartment.

Berberi also added that in connection with this case, the local directorate of police in Vlora in cooperation with the prosecutor's office is conducting thorough investigations to clarify, document and prosecute other persons involved in this criminal activity and invited anyone with information to to submit it, being guaranteed complete anonymity and an immediate, unbiased response.
