The ground forces will conduct a two-level command and staff exercise "Balkan 22" with troops for real operations in the area, the press center of the Ministry of Defense announced.

The exercise will be held from October 13 to 20, 2022 at the "Koren" and "Slivnitsa" training grounds and at the permanent deployment points of the formations.

It will be attended by servicemen from the Ground Forces Command, headquarters of formations from the Ground Forces, as well as forces and assets from the Air Force and the Military Medical Academy.

Within the framework of the "Balkan 22" exercise, two of the formations will also conduct tactical live fire exercises.

Over 1,500 military personnel and about 500 units of combat, special and transport equipment will participate in them.

The theme of the "Balkan 22" command and staff exercise is "Participation of the formations of the Land Forces in a defensive operation as part of the land component".

Among the main goals are improving the capabilities of the headquarters in planning and conducting a defense operation, as well as effective management of the formations.

The Bulgarian-American nuclear exercise "Tangra" has begun

The officer planning the exercise is the commander of the Ground Forces Major General Mikhail Popov, conducting the exercise - the deputy commander of the Ground Forces Brigadier General Nikolay Karaivanov, director - the deputy chief of staff for operations of the Ground Forces Colonel Vasil Enchev.

From October 10 to 16, before the start of "Balkan 22", at the "Koren" and "Slivnitsa" ranges, servicemen from the 2nd Mechanized Brigade and the 3rd Brigade Command will conduct company tactical exercises.
