Serhiy Bratchuk, the spokesman for the head of the Odesa OVA, believes that Odesa is not threatened by the offensive of the occupying army from the unrecognized Transnistria.

He said this on October 12 during a briefing.

Serhii Bratchuk emphasized that there is a Russian contingent in Transnistria and the command of the occupying army would like to use it, but Odesa is not in danger yet, as the Defense Forces are patrolling the border.

"We have already heard about seven such offensive plans. Russia is unable to carry out mobilization measures in the so-called Polish People's Republic, and although there is some activity, local residents do not want to join the occupying forces," Bratchuk said.

The threat of an offensive from unrecognized Transnistria

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia on the territory of Ukraine, the threat from unrecognized Transnistria, where the Russian contingent is located, has been discussed.

Because of this, a wave of sabotage began in the separatist region, which, according to Ukrainian experts, was organized by Russia in order to involve Transnistria in the war against Ukraine.

In July 2022, the head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, reported that Ukraine was ready to help Moldova get rid of illegal military formations on the territory of the so-called Transnistria.

In August 2022, Serhii Bratchuk stated that they were trying to conduct mobilization "training" in unrecognized Transnistria.
