The defeat of Ukraine in the war will mean the defeat of NATO

Before the NATO ministerial meeting, Jens Stoltenberg emphasized that the defeat of Ukraine in the war against Russia would also mean the defeat of NATO.

At the same time, the Secretary General explained that the Alliance is not a party to the conflict in Russia's war against Ukraine.

"It is important for all of us that Ukraine wins the battle, the war against the Russian troops that invaded it. Because if Putin wins, it will not only be a great defeat for Ukraine, but also a defeat and dangerous for all of us, because it will make the world more dangerous, and we are more vulnerable to further Russian aggression," Stoltenberg said.

Stoltenberg also called on the member countries of the Alliance to replenish their stockpiles of weapons, because they play a key role in the defense of Ukraine.

NATO training on nuclear deterrence

NATO member countries will conduct joint exercises on nuclear deterrence.

They are scheduled to start next week.

At the same time, Jens Stoltenberg emphasized that the Alliance does not yet see that the Russian Federation is ready to use nuclear weapons in war.

"Next week, NATO will conduct a long-planned deterrence exercise, Steadfast Noon. It is a routine exercise that is held every year. To ensure that our deterrence forces remain reliable, secure and effective," Stoltenberg said.

Attacks on NATO infrastructure facilities

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has promised to strengthen the protection of important NATO infrastructure facilities after the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipeline and the incident on the railway in Germany.

He added that if the involvement of the enemy in these sabotages is confirmed, NATO can apply its fifth article.

"We are ready to take measures if necessary. What exactly these measures can be depends on the nature of the attack. We will not give our adversaries the privilege of knowing how Article 5 can be activated, in what amounts. It will all depend on the specific situation, if a cyber or hybrid threat against NATO will arise," Stoltenberg said.

Ukraine's missile terror and the provision of air defense systems: what else Stoltenberg said

Rocket attacks on critical infrastructure of Ukraine are a sign of Putin's weakness.

Jens Stoltenberg emphasized that Putin will lose on the battlefield, and therefore uses missile terror against Ukrainian cities.

"They have lost territory, lost momentum, that's why they launch missile strikes, which we saw yesterday and today," the NATO Secretary General added.

Jens Stoltenberg also commented on the meeting of the contact group in the Rammstein format.

He added that the provision of air defense systems to Ukraine will be discussed as a matter of priority.

"Air defense systems are very important, because many missiles were shot down by air defense systems provided by NATO countries. But not all were shot down, so there is a need for more effective air defense. We will discuss this with Reznikov. How to ensure the delivery of these systems as soon as possible, how to ensure training, how to provide ammunition for these air defense units," said the Secretary General.

Ukraine and NATO: what is known

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, after dictator Putin tried to annex Ukrainian territories, announced that Ukraine would apply to join NATO.

Jens Stoltenberg stated that the Alliance adheres to the "open door" policy, but Ukraine's accession requires the consent of all 30 NATO members.

Now the Alliance is concentrating its attention on providing military assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The NATO Secretary General noted that only Russia and dictator Putin can stop the war against Ukraine, because the Russian Federation has nothing to lose if it agrees to peace.

If Ukraine stops fighting, it may disappear from the world map.
