Russian political scientist Valery Solovei believes that the deployment of a joint group of troops of Russia and Belarus is more relevant to

NATO

countries , in particular Poland and Lithuania, than against Ukraine.

He told about this in an interview with BILD.

"Of course, this is seen as a threat to Ukraine, but it is about deploying the group in the western direction, that is, conditionally against Lithuania and against Poland, that is, against NATO. And it is not a fact at all, the chances are small that this group will deploy against Ukraine, at least Lukashenko will do everything possible and impossible, and he has the talent of a snake, he is able to slip between the legs of Vladimir Putin, in order to prevent Belarus from interfering in Russia's armed confrontation with Ukraine," says the political scientist.

Valery Solovei also said that the self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Oleksandr Lukashenko, has now resumed consultations with a number of Western countries, they are being conducted directly or, as usual, through the Vatican.

"And Oleksandr Grigoryovych is asking for security guarantees after everything starts to change in Russia and, accordingly, in Belarus. So he cannot help meddling in this story. He can say anything. But he also says that he will resist NATO," the political scientist summarized.

We will remind, according to the Ministry of Defense of Belarus,

Putin and Lukashenko are deploying a joint group of troops near the border of Ukraine.

Lukashenko also said that

NATO and European countries are allegedly threatening Belarus with a nuclear strike

and want to "draw it into a war against Ukraine."
