"We are working on several requests, with several European Union countries, specifically for new Cesar guns," Macron said at a press conference after the first meeting of the European political community in Prague.

Since the beginning of the conflict, France has supplied Ukraine with 18 truck-mounted 155-mm Cesar guns with a range of up to 40 km, as well as anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, armored personnel carriers, fuel, individual equipment and about 15 155-mm TRF1 self-propelled howitzers .

Paris is now considering supplying Kyiv with 6 to 12 more Cesar guns from an order destined for Denmark, a familiar source told AFP.

The EU approved the new sanctions against Russia, suspending imports for 7 billion euros

France is also exploring the possibility of supplying Kyiv with 20 Bastion armored vehicles.

The 27 EU countries will discuss these topics today at an informal EU summit in Prague, the French president said, adding that he would announce more details at a press conference after the meeting.

"We will continue to assist Ukraine from a financial, humanitarian and military point of view. This assistance will continue to be expressed in the provision of equipment and training, along the lines we have been maintaining for several months," Macron noted.

"We continue to progress based on the requests made and to coordinate very closely with EU members as well as with countries that are not part of the union," he added, referring to Britain.
