's launch of ballistic missiles over
Japan
. is condemned.
India said such launches affect peace and security in the region and beyond.
On Tuesday, North Korea fired a medium-range ballistic missile that crashed into the Pacific Ocean while passing over Japan.
North Korea has launched such a missile for the first time in five years, in which the missile has passed over Japan.
India's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said at the UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), "We have noticed worrying reports of ballistic missile launches."

"Before this launch, the DPRK carried out intercontinental ballistic missile launches in March this year and several other launches after that, which were discussed in this council," he said.
Later, US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield issued a joint statement on behalf of Albania, Brazil, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Norway, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the United Kingdom and the United States.
"The United States, Albania, Brazil, France, India, Ireland, Japan, Norway, the Republic of Korea, the UAE and the United Kingdom strongly condemn the launch of a long-range ballistic missile by the DPRK on October 4," the statement said. ''
These countries also condemned seven other ballistic missile launches by North Korea since September 25, the statement said.
It said that North Korea has launched more than 35 ballistic missiles so far in this year alone.
