The main accused in the rape and murder of a 19-year-old B.Sc student in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh has been arrested.

Mainpuri Police itself has given information about this by tweeting.

Mainpuri Police tweeted, 'The accused arrested within 12 hours of the police getting the information.

The accused have been taken into custody with the joint effort of four teams formed by the local police and the surveillance team in the case of misbehavior with the girl and then murder in village Sheesham of Bhogaon police station area.

According to the report, the accused first raped the girl after entering the house.

After that, after killing him, the dead body was hanged.

This information came when his younger sister returned from school.

As soon as he knocked on the door, the 20-year-old accused opened the door and ran outside.

There was a stir in the area after the incident.

A large number of people gathered in the village.

At present, the police has sent the body for post-mortem.

The 19-year-old victim was a student of B.Sc.

District Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamlesh Dixit said that the victim's father lodged an FIR against the accused alleging rape and murder of his daughter.

He said that the victim's body has been sent for post-mortem.

Police teams raided the house and possible hideouts of the accused and assured that he would be arrested soon.
