The eighth package of EU sanctions against Russia has been agreed.

Diplomats were in a hurry to get to the summit of EU leaders so that they could approve the decision politically.

They managed to reach a compromise, but it was not without exceptions.

TSN reports who bargained for what.

The EU ambassadors were able to agree on the most visible punitive measure for Russia - price restrictions on Russian oil.

So, the package will have a legal basis for introducing a "ceiling".

It will begin to operate on December 5, but we do not yet know what the final price will be, because it will be determined later by the countries from the "Group of Seven", which previously reached a political agreement to do so.

In fact, it will be prohibited to transport Russian oil by sea to third countries at a price higher than the established one.

Greece, Cyprus, Malta hesitated before agreeing - it is their tankers that mainly transport Russian raw materials.

But, in the end, they exchanged consent for possible support of their shipping business from the EU.

The restriction does not apply to pipeline raw materials - Hungary has already achieved this exclusion and not only that.

"We are fighting hard for Hungary to receive exemptions from the sanctions measures and we have finally succeeded in achieving an exemption from the oil price cap mechanism for pipeline transport, so these measures no longer threaten the security of crude oil supplies in Hungary," said Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó of Hungary

The sanctions will not affect the efforts of Budapest, which is interested in the construction of two more reactors at its only nuclear plant, and nuclear energy.

And also - the Russian Kurchatov Institute, which is engaged in research in the field of nuclear energy.

Journalists have at their disposal all versions of documents with black lists, and he disappeared from the last one.

The diamond giant of Russia, which, according to Putin, brings significant revenues to the budget, was also removed from sanctions.

This is already the desire of Belgium, where the largest diamond exchange in the world is located, which depends, accordingly, on supplies.

But it is forbidden to import steel, wood, paper, and chemicals from Russia.

To export - components of electronics, aircraft equipment, chemicals needed by the Russian aircraft fleet and the defense industry.

Diplomats familiar with the discussions told us it would further limit Russia's ability to build weapons.

So, to fight.

And this is precisely the end of the war - the ultimate goal of the EU.

They are ready to go to it, despite the side difficulties.

There are 29 new surnames in the "black lists".

These are representatives of the occupying power on the ground in the occupied regions, as well as the Russian election committee - the head of the CEC, Ella Pamfilova, will become a persona non grata in the EU.

The head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry called the package weak, but still better than nothing.

After all, Russia's isolation is deepening.

Earlier, the President's Office said that the 8th package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation will be included.
