We are talking about the first meeting of a new informal organization - the European Political Community.

It is attended by representatives of all 27 EU countries, candidate states for joining the Union, as well as those countries that have economic agreements with the European Union and share pan-European values.

Invitations were received by the leaders of Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, as well as Great Britain, Turkey, Serbia and a number of other countries that are not part of the European Union.

Belarus and Russia are not among the invitees.

The idea of creating a new format of relations belongs to French President

Emmanuel Macron,

he presented it in May.

It was later approved by the EU summit.

The European Union emphasizes that the conversation is not about an alternative to joining the EU for candidate countries, but about a new format of cooperation.

"Taking into account the dramatic consequences of the Russian war, which affected European countries on many fronts, we agreed to create a European political community with the aim of uniting the countries of the European continent and providing a platform for political coordination," noted the Chairman of the European Council

, Charles Michel, in his invitation to the leaders.

According to him, security, economy, energy, and migration can be discussed at the summit.

The head of the EU foreign policy department

, Joseph Burel

, said before the meeting in Prague that its participants will discuss the creation of a "new order without Russia", and the very fact of the meeting is a clear signal of Moscow's isolation in connection with its aggression against Ukraine.

He noted that

Vladimir Putin

's recent speech about the annexation of Ukrainian territories was not just about territorial disputes with Ukraine or the desire to conquer it, but about the fight against the "collective West", which Putin accused of all sins: from the bombing of Dresden to the change operations. gender and even to Satanism.

According to Burrell, Putin's speech shows that he has closed the door to dialogue and diplomacy and is increasingly dragging his country down the path of war and isolation.

Burel noted that Putin denies the legacy of the late

Mikhail Gorbachev

, who proposed the idea of a "common European home."

"In the foreseeable future, probably while Putin remains in power, it will be impossible to develop a new security structure or "peaceful architecture" in Europe, of which Putin's Russia would be a part," Burel notes.

According to him, Russia remains a geographical neighbor of Europe and a participant in the international system of relations, but now it is necessary to build a European political community without its participation.

As Burel points out, we are talking about a structure whose scope is wider than the EC and NATO.

On October 7, an informal EU summit will be held in Prague, at which the eighth package of sanctions against Russia is expected to be approved.
