Please tell that Sonia started the padyatra from Dak Bungalow area of Mandya district.

She joined the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' for the first time.

Sonia's padyatra in Mandya a few months before the Karnataka assembly elections is also significant in the sense that it is considered to be an area dominated by the Deve Gowda family.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said, "It is a historic moment that Sonia Gandhi ji has joined this yatra.

This will make the party stronger in Karnataka."

Rahul Gandhi and many other Congress leaders and workers started the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7.

These days the journey is in Karnataka.

The yatra will conclude in Kashmir early next year.

A total distance of 3,570 km will be covered under this yatra.

The party has named those 119 leaders, including Rahul, as 'Bharat Yatris', who will go to Kashmir while undertaking a padyatra.

These people will cover the prescribed distance of 3,570 km.

Congress believes that this yatra will serve as a lifeline for the party.
