Volodymyr Zelenskyi's speech at the 58th Munich Security Conference on February 19 - a few days before the war - became very important not only for Ukraine, but also for the world political community.

The former ambassador of Ukraine to Germany, Andriy Melnyk, said this during a telethon broadcast on the "1+1" TV channel.

He also told how exactly the preparation for this event lasted.

"I remember how the president himself repeatedly rewrote this speech. It was a really creative process. The main messages in it were formulated by the president himself. He actually spoke from the heart and soul, maybe that's why it worked. All our partners and media representatives were positively shocked then," Melnyk said.

However, the former ambassador regretted that Ukraine did not have enough time to mobilize the world's politicians in order to better prepare for a large-scale war.

It will be recalled that the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin declared that the cause of the war was the attempts of Ukraine and the West to "tear history apart", since in his fantasies Ukrainian territories were once "Russian".
