The USA advises Ukraine to de-occupy the south, including Kherson, before the onset of cold weather.

After all, in winter, the land in the southern regions will be very wet, which can slow down the advance of troops.

This is stated in an article by The Financial Times.

Chris Murphy, a Democrat from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said that currently, "the long-term disaster for Ukraine is that Russia is blocking Ukraine's access to water from Mariupol to Odesa."

"

Ukraine's source of vitality is its access to Odesa

, so it is important for them to be in an offensive position, not only in a defensive position in the south," noted Murphy.

It is noted that Ukraine's allies in the West consider the de-occupation of Kherson as a decisive test.

"If you can control Kherson, you will certainly be able to create an obstacle to access to Odesa, which, as far as I understand, the Russians wanted to achieve," explained a high-ranking military official from the United States.

The article says that Ukraine agrees that the coming weeks will be crucial for the campaign to liberate the southern territories.

According to the estimates of the military from the USA,

if there will be opportunities to liberate Kherson, then it will be from the middle of November.

A representative of the US Ministry of Defense reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have now advanced to the northeast of Kherson and occupied a bridgehead on the Dnieper.

In addition, Ukrainian troops are advancing in the direction of Kherson from the north, but more slowly.

"They need to do something with Kherson in the near future. This raises the morale of Ukrainians and the military, and also shows that both the training and the provision of equipment are being used in the best way," one of the Western diplomats expressed conviction.

The publication emphasizes that the

USA advises Ukraine to recapture the south from the Russian troops before the onset of cold weather,

because the land there will be very wet in winter.

So it will be difficult for both armies to maneuver, they will be forced to stick to the main roads - an unprotected zone.

At the same time, thanks to the appearance of the swamp, the defending side gains an advantage.

After all, it will not be forced to move by land as the advancing troops do.

It is also noted that

Russia has strengthened its defenses in the south

, so the offensive of the Armed Forces will be more difficult.

"This is where mathematics will be needed. It will take an overwhelming force to penetrate there," the NATO representative said.

At the same time, the Pentagon informed that the Russian troops had difficulties with infrastructure and logistical support.

So Ukraine can use it in its interests.

"Ukrainians need to think, using their smart, flexible special training, which they received from us and our allies, to understand how to manipulate the Russians so that they give up some advantage on the ground," said Evelyn Farkas, a former senior Pentagon official during Barack Obama's presidency.

We will remind, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already liberated more than 50 settlements in the Kherson region.

note, the president of The Jamestown Foundation, Glen Howard, predicted that the ZSU would be able to liberate Kherson and Nova Kakhovka during November.
