The United States sees no indication that Russia is preparing to use nuclear weapons, despite the "rattling of nuclear weapons" by Russian President Vladimir Putin, White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

Russia's partial mobilization and Putin's warnings about the use of nuclear weapons have escalated the seven-month-old war in Ukraine.

"We take any nuclear weapons or nuclear tinkering very seriously, but I mean we've had no occasion to adjust our own strategic nuclear posture, nor have we seen any indication that Russia is preparing any time soon to uses nuclear weapons," Jean-Pierre told reporters.

"We have not observed any changes in Russian nuclear positions, but NATO and its allies remain vigilant," a representative of the alliance told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
