The Netherlands will cull around 102,000 chickens at a farm in the north of the country after the discovery of a highly contagious strain of bird flu.

This was announced by the government on Tuesday, quoted by Fox News.

Fifteen cases of the highly lethal form of bird flu have been reported in the Netherlands in the past month, following dozens of cases earlier in the year.

Romania reported an outbreak of bird flu on a farm near the border with Bulgaria

France is also seeing a resurgence of cases after experiencing its worst wave of bird flu earlier this year.

We remind you that last year Europe experienced its worst epidemic of bird flu. 

Cases have also been found in mammals, such as red foxes.
