[Reporter Lu Yixuan/Taipei Report] My Pacific friend, Palau President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr. led a delegation to arrive in Taiwan this evening (5th) for his first national visit since taking office. Foreign Minister Wu Zhaoxie received him welcome.

Hui Shuren said in a brief speech at the airport that he is very happy to be in Taiwan again. It feels "like coming home." The epidemic has separated people. Although the tourism bubble plan implemented last year was not as effective as expected, he is very confident that in the near future Travel will resume in the future, "Welcome many, many Taiwanese to Palau"!

Hui Shuren also emphasized that this visit is to demonstrate the strong partnership between Palau and Taiwan. Palau is fortunate to have a firm friend like Taiwan, who lends a helping hand during the most difficult period to help Palau face the challenges of the epidemic. This includes securing flights so that Palau nationals can go to Taiwan for medical treatment, which is vital to the well-being of the people, for which he is very grateful.

In addition, Hui Shuren also praised Taiwan as an excellent partner in assisting in the completion of the "Our Ocean Conference" held in Palau in April.

Hui Shuren said that he will continue to work hard on the existing basis of the bilateral partnership, and he is looking forward to his visit to Taiwan in the next few days, including giving a speech at the Yushan Forum on "Revitalization, Repositioning and Reconnecting", participating in Double Ten National Day activities, and a meeting with the president.

Talking about the National Day activities, Hui Shuren also said that Palau also celebrated the National Day a few days ago, which is the 28th year of Palau's freedom and independence.

Hui Shuren emphasized that defending freedom is so important, "We believe in a free and open Indo-Pacific region, and we believe that we should work together for peace and prosperity around the world, so we are grateful and happy to be here!"

On the morning of the 6th, President Tsai will greet the Hui Shuren delegation with a grand military salute. He will also host a state banquet and exchange views on issues of common concern.

During this trip, President Hui Shuren will also meet with Minister of Digital Development Tang Feng, Minister of Communications Wang Cai, Minister of Finance Su Jianrong, and Chairman of Aboriginal Association Yi Jiang.

Baluer, financial industry professionals, marine science experts, etc. will meet and communicate, and will also participate in the "Economic Roundtable Forum" in Palau, Taiwan, to explore more future cooperation directions.
