Estonian Interior Minister Lauri Laanemetsa said that Russians and Belarusians who have a residence permit in Estonia but are not citizens of the country will not be able to renew their gun permits.

Only citizens of the EU and NATO countries will have the right to own weapons in the country.

This is reported by ERR.

"I think this is the right point of view in the sense that if you want to be a hunter, but you are a citizen of the Russian Federation, then we expect you to be an Estonian, give up this citizenship and be able to continue using your weapon," the minister emphasized .

At the same time, he added that if the amendments to the law are adopted, citizens of Russia and Belarus will be forced to sell, surrender or render unusable their weapons by the end of 2023.

In addition, its sale will be prohibited to companies headed by citizens of the Russian Federation.

It will be recalled that Estonia handed over 3 drones to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for which the Russians raised funds to purchase them for their army.
