Azerbaijani diaspora organizations issued a statement addressed to international organizations regarding the mass graves discovered in Edilli village of Khojavend region.

According to the information given to APA by the State Committee on Diaspora Affairs, the statement reads:

"We, Azerbaijanis living in foreign countries, welcome the news of the discovery of a mass grave in the territory of Edilli village of Khojavend region with deep anger and consider this reality as the exposure of Armenia's next war crime.

We inform you that the mass grave discovered in Edilli village of Khojavand district, which was freed from occupation by the brave Azerbaijan Army in 2020 as a result of the 44-day Second Karabakh War, is not the first in number.

The discovery of 12 human remains that were mass buried with the use of wires and ropes in that cemetery gives reason to say that the total number of human remains found in mass graves in Edilli has reached 25.

The fact that those persons are soldiers from their clothes and belongings is proven by many statements about the torture and killing of Azerbaijani prisoners of war.

The discovered remains belong to Azerbaijanis who went missing during the First Karabakh War and whose fate is still unknown.

However, despite repeated calls, the Armenian side refused to provide information about the fate of those persons, as well as the mass burial places of Azerbaijanis, in order to hide the war crimes it committed from the world community.

We especially emphasize that the discovery of such graves by the Armenian armed forces, rooted in ethnic hatred, grossly violates the requirements of international law, international humanitarian law norms, including the 1949 Geneva Conventions on the Protection of War Victims, and harms Azerbaijani civilians, military personnel, especially also openly exposes the war crimes observed with torture and anti-humanity acts against the wounded and dead persons, demonstrates their inhumane behavior and genocidal policy.

During the First and Second Karabakh wars, the brutal killing of Azerbaijani prisoners of war by Armenian military personnel by shooting at close range in the heads and heart regions, the looting of the bodies of their soldiers,

It is with regret that we declare that Armenia, which, while making unfounded territorial claims against Azerbaijan, implements a policy of sharp hatred on racial, ethnic, and religious grounds, instead of taking practical measures to stop war crimes against our country and bring the guilty persons to justice for previously committed crimes, between nations creates an obstacle to security and the peace-building process in the region by allowing provocations that lead to conflict.

We should not forget an important fact that the Armenian armed forces polluted the territories of Azerbaijan occupied by them for 30 years with mines, and during the Second Karabakh War, they launched rocket attacks on Azerbaijani cities such as Ganja, Barda, Mingachevir, Goranboy and Tartar, which are located tens of kilometers away from the front line, and as a result, 100- more than a civilian was killed.

However, contrary to the tripartite declarations signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Russian Federation and the agreements reached in Brussels through the mediation of the President of the Council of the European Union, Charles Michel, the official Yerevan has not yet provided Azerbaijan with mine maps and information about the fate of up to 4,000 Azerbaijanis who went missing during the First Karabakh War. did not.

Azerbaijanis of the world firmly declare that in order to prevent Armenia from committing further such criminal acts, the international community should respond adequately to these war crimes, and the perpetrators of those crimes should be brought to justice.

The world community should know that Armenia has implemented a humanitarian intervention policy against Azerbaijan.

We once again bring these facts to the attention of the UN, the European Union, the Council of Europe and their institutions, and other competent international and regional organizations, and demand the prevention of Armenia's war crimes and the accountability of those responsible for crimes against peace and humanity committed on ethnic grounds at different times. We call for immediate measures at the legal level.
