"The European Union (EU) has declared 2022 as the "Year of Youth" because of the young people suffering from the coronavirus pandemic in the world."

APA informs that EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Mikhalko said this at the press conference dedicated to the European Youth Days to be held in Azerbaijan.

Peter Mikhalko added that he is very glad that the EU cooperates with various institutions of Azerbaijan.

First of all, he gave an example of cooperation in the field of education.

"In the 5 years before the pandemic (2014-2019), more than 2,000 Azerbaijani students studied in Europe," the ambassador emphasized.

He added that there has been an increase in the number of Azerbaijani teachers and students going to Europe within the framework of the "Erasmus plus" program this year.

Peter Mikhalko noted that they support the fields that lead to development and interest in young people: "885 students benefited from the support programs in the field of vocational education of the EU.

In addition, a large number of teachers and students benefited from the programs organized to develop the existing skills of physically challenged youth.

The ambassador also drew attention to the EU's support for demining the territories.
