Actor Alec Baldwin and the producers of the film "Rust" have reached an agreement with the family of cinematographer Halina Hutchins, who was shot on the set in New Mexico last year, BTA reports, citing a message from the electronic publication Deadline.

"We have reached a settlement, subject to court approval, ... against the producers of Rust, including Alec Baldwin and Rust Movie Productions. As part of this settlement, the lawsuit will be dismissed," he said. husband Matthew Hutchins, as quoted by Deadline.

However, a recent forensic report prepared by FBI experts found that the gun could not have fired if the trigger had not been pulled.

"I have no interest in engaging in counter-accusations or assigning blame (to the producers or Baldwin)," Matthew Hutchins, who was a plaintiff in the lawsuit along with his 9-year-old son, said in a statement.

"We all believe that Halina's death was a terrible accident. I am grateful that the producers and the entertainment community came together to honor her final work."

Baldwin's attorney, Luke Nikas, did not respond to a request for comment from The Associated Press.

However, in a statement to the online publication Deadline, he said: "During this difficult process, everyone held on to the desire to do the best for Halina's son. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to the resolution of this tragic and painful situation."
