Car access to the Saltanat area in the Sea Garden of Varna will be prohibited.

This was decided at a joint meeting by three municipal commissions - "Public order and security", "Protection and reproduction of the environment" and "The legal commission".

The changes to the General Plan for the organization of traffic in Varna were proposed by the mayor of the city, Ivan Portnih.

The traffic management plan in Varna was changed in 2019, but the mayor's subsequent order to stop cars in Primorski Park was challenged in court.

According to the Supreme Administrative Court, only the City Council can approve changes to the plan that include a ban on the movement of cars in the park.

"The joint meeting decided to impose an absolute ban in the so-called part of the Sea Garden, which is the Saltanat area, in the part of the alley of the Dolphinarium and the alley that is next to the Acacias stop in Varna. An absolute ban with the corresponding legal consequences for this something, and accordingly the proposal received quite strong support", stated Todor Balabanov - member of the "Legal Commission" Board of Directors of the Regional Office of Varna, GERB.

The decision to stop cars in the Sea Garden was made with great delay, according to those who voted against the mayor's proposal.

"Our group has repeatedly commented on this topic.

We have even submitted a proposal for the solution to the problems of the Sea Garden, related to a possible proposal for compensation and regulation and limitation of unregulated traffic, so that it will be a park for children, for the people of Varna.

However, Varna has a much bigger problem and that is the lack of park and recreational areas.

People are forced to pour into the Sea Garden, and it has been transformed into a neighborhood," said Plamen Kapitanov - a member of the "Protection and Reproduction of the Environment" Committee at the Municipal Office-Varna, DB.

Many of the residents of Varna approve of the ban on cars in the Sea Garden.

However, for car drivers, the ban on car access in the park is not well thought out.

"There are no parking lots, where to stop to visit the zoo"+ 0.30 What can be obtained?

There may be riots, something like that," commented Petar Shopov.

The project envisages the placement of prohibitory signs at the intersections of "Knyaz Boris I" Blvd. with the "Acacias" stop and next to the "Delfinarium" stop.

There will be exceptions for property owners in the Saltanat area, as well as for cars of disabled people.

Cars with a special traffic mode will also have unlimited access.

In order for them to take effect, the General Plan for the organization of traffic in Varna must be adopted by the Municipal Council.
