On Friday, September 30, Ukraine submitted an application to join NATO under an accelerated application.

This means that now "the ball is in NATO's court".

Nataliya Halibarenko, head of the mission of Ukraine to the North Atlantic Alliance, said this at a briefing in Lviv.

"After the application was officially submitted, now the member countries have to hold a preliminary discussion of our application and express their position. What pleases me in my work is that now the discussion about our future membership has acquired a formalized character. Previously, these were some unofficial discussions that we conducted somewhere on the sidelines, because the issue was not officially raised. Now this discussion

will take place within the framework of the North Atlantic Council at various levels

," she said.

She noted that the first discussion on Ukraine's accession to NATO will take place at the level of ambassadors to the Alliance, and the next one will be held within the framework of the meeting of defense ministers, which will take place on October 12-13.

Oleksiy Reznikov, the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, will be present there.

We will remind, expert

Oleksandr Kalinichenko

told what Moscow's response will be to Ukraine's accession to the Alliance.

In addition, as the adviser to the head of the President's Office Mykhailo Podolyak reported, 48 hours after Ukraine signed the application for accelerated accession to NATO,

the country's membership in the Alliance was supported by 10 member countries of the bloc.
