NATO has criticized North Korea over a series of missile launches in recent days and called on the authoritarian regime of Kim Jong-un to engage in diplomacy, BTA reports.

"I categorically condemn North Korea's dangerous and destabilizing missile tests," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg wrote on Twitter.

Stoltenberg said the tests were in violation of UN resolutions, and added that North Korea must give up its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.

NATO stands in solidarity with Japan, South Korea and its partners New Zealand and Australia, Stoltenberg also said.
