Now Vladimir Putin is going to sign the documents - from this moment on, Russia will consider these territories as its own and plans a transition period until January 1, 2026.

According to the agreements, the Donetsk and Luhansk regions were included in Russia as the Donetsk and Luhansk "people's republics" within the administrative boundaries of 2014.

The borders of the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions are not defined in the documents.

Part of Mykolaiv Oblast was annexed as part of Kherson Oblast.

Meanwhile, a large part of these regions remain unoccupied, including the city of Zaporozhye, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk of the Donetsk region, the Ukrainian army continues to liberate new settlements from Russian occupation.

In accordance with the agreements, Russia will consider all Ukrainians living in the annexed territories as its citizens, if they do not declare their unwillingness to receive a Russian passport within a month.
