[Reporter Liu Binquan / Nantou Report] Every October is the winter season for the gray-faced eagles to migrate south, and a large number of gray-faced eagles pass through Taiwan. According to the observation and research of the Yushan National Park Management Office, more than 30% of them will pass through Yushan Pagoda. Plus, on a high mountain at an altitude of 2,600 meters, you can admire the gray-faced eagle up close. It is called "Eagle Pillar" when it rides up the air, and the group is called "Eagle Ball". It is the "Eagle River". It is expected to reach its maximum period in mid-October. Tataga will hold an eagle viewing during the National Day holiday and on the 15th and 16th, allowing the public to see the National Day bird "eagle".

According to the Jade Management Office, there are red-bellied eagles in the Tataga Park every September, and gray-faced eagles and other raptors pass through in October. These birds migrate from Japan and South Korea, transiting in Taiwan on the way, and fly to the Philippines and Indonesia for winter. Fly back to the north next spring.

Among them, the gray-faced buteo eagle often appears around the National Day, also known as the "National Day Bird". Almost all of them will gather in Kenting to go out to sea when they transit Taiwan. In recent years, more than one-third of the gray-faced buteo eagles who have observed the transit will come to Tataga.

The gray-faced eagles passing through Tataga will use the updraft from the valley in the early morning to circle and fly all the way to the sky. The process of circling is called "eagle pillar". The movement is for the "Eagle River". To appreciate the gray-faced eagle in the mountains, you can see it at close range with the naked eye. You don't need to use binoculars like on flat ground. The association held an eagle viewing, allowing the public to see the "eagle" posture in the mountains.
