"We are on the eve of October 5 - a date that intertwines self-sacrifice and victory, longing and fulfillment, past and future. 110 years of free and independent Gorna Jumaya, today's Blagoevgrad, 110 years since the Pirin region has suffered but proudly stood by that part of Mother Bulgaria, liberated more than three decades earlier; October 5 is a symbol of the strength, the ease, the unshakable will of us, the Bulgarians," said the mayor of Blagoevgrad Ilko Stoyanov in his speech to the crowd this evening, quoted by BTA .

Dimitar Stoyanov will participate in the solemn commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the Balkan War in Svilengrad

He recalled that the Pirin Region received its freedom 34 years after the Liberation of Bulgaria, but our ancestors were not discredited and broken, but managed to bring their struggle to the end.

The month of October has a special weight in the calendar of festive and honorable events of the entire Pirin Macedonia.

October 5 is the beginning of what generations of our ancestors have dreamed of for so long, for centuries, said Metropolitan Seraphim of Nevrokop in his speech.

The festive evening began with a parade of flags.

The ceremonial review of the historical flags and uniforms of the Bulgarian military began with the flag of Philip Totyu's troop from 1867, followed by the Samara flag, the troop flag of Gen.

The celebrations on the eve of the anniversary of the Liberation of the city continued with a solemn dawn inspection with the participation of servicemen from the 3rd Brigade Command - Blagoevgrad.

In front of residents and guests of the city, the commander of the command, Colonel Mitko Baltov, noted that 110 years ago, in their victorious march, units of the glorious 7th Rila Division crossed the borders of the Ottoman Empire and contributed to the long-awaited and much-desired freedom of Gorna Jumaya and Pirinska Macedonia.

"The brave Bulgarian servicemen, led by Gen.

Spas Georgiev, were welcomed in the courtyard of the "Introduction of the Blessed Virgin Mary" church, as a symbol of unity between willpower and faith," said Colonel Baltov.
