CIA Director Bill Burns said Russian President Vladimir Putin could be "pretty dangerous and reckless" if cornered.

He said this in an interview with CBS, writes CNN.

Putin is "probably concerned not only with what's happening on the battlefield in Ukraine, [but] with what's happening at home and internationally," Burns said.

He drew attention to the fact that

despite China's promise in February of "boundless friendship" with the Russian Federation

, this country refused to offer the military support that Putin requested.

According to the CIA director, increasing challenges to Russia have left the country's president with fewer options, making him potentially more dangerous.

"Putin backed into a corner,

Putin who feels that he is pressed against the wall, can be quite dangerous

and reckless," Burns noted.

We will remind, according to Russian oppositionist and publicist Andriy Piontkovsky, Putin is now in a desperate state, he is confused, cornered and has nothing to say about Ukraine.

In addition, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said that the use of nuclear weapons by the Russian Federation in Ukraine is very unlikely.

However, Putin does not act rationally.
