We are talking about successes during the offensive in the Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson directions.

The Pentagon believes that in order for the Armed Forces to drive out the invaders, it is necessary to support Ukraine with weapons.

Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Celeste Wallander stated this during a discussion organized by the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

Celeste Wallander called the liberation of Kharkiv region a stunning success of the Armed Forces.

She also noted the actions of the Ukrainian military in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, in particular, the deoccupation of the city of Lyman.

According to the Pentagon chief's assistant, Lyman's return will significantly affect Russia's ability to move and secure its forces on the front lines.

"Ukraine's goal is to push the Russian troops to the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region. And for Russia, this will be a significant defeat, because it further distances its desire to capture Odesa, which it stated earlier. And it provides Ukraine with a better defensive position to reduce the intensity of fierce fighting during winter," she explained.

Celeste Wallander stressed that in order for the Armed Forces to continue the counteroffensive, the military needs the support of the United States and the West.
