The European Union has signed a package of financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of five billion euros, European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis said.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal expressed his gratitude to the European Union for such a decision on Twitter.

"The EU has just signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the provision of 5 billion euros in macro-financial assistance. I am grateful to Ursula von der Leyen and Valdis Dombrovskis for this decision. This is another gesture of the EU, which intends to support Ukraine in its victory over the war, reconstruction and aspiration for a European future." , - wrote Shmyhal.

Dombrovskis wrote on Twitter that he was "pleased to sign a second Memorandum of Understanding with Ukraine after Russia started its brutal war."

It will be recalled that Mykhailo Podolyak, the adviser to the head of the President's Office, called the "ceremony of entry" of the captured Ukrainian territories into Russia, announced in the Russian Federation, a 

"freak show."
